Description

Details

Many people prefer to build their own incubators. This is a fun do-it-yourself project. We’ve found that the biggest difficulty people run into while developing their incubators is being able to find a reliable heat source and thermostat. We’ve solved this problem by creating the IncuKit™ series thermostat fan heaters.

We have created the IncuKit™ DC to turn any small container into an incubator. This provides the heat, air circulation and thermostat control you need to accurately control the environment in your container for hatching eggs.

The IncuKit™ DC comes with a proportional thermostat, built-in 40 watt heater, and a built-in fan. The proportional thermostat varies the amount of power that is supplied to the heater instead of simply turning the heater off and on. This provides more accurate temperature control than a standard off/on thermostat. The thermostat also comes preset to 99.5 degrees F which can be easily adjusted if necessary. The fan speed can also be adjusted to provide the right amount of circulation for different size containers. The digital display makes it easy to read the current temperature and to make changes. The IncuKit™ DC operates on low 12 Volt DC power and includes an AC-to-DC converter that works with both 110/120v and 220/240v power input. An optional DC turner motor can easily be added which is controlled by the control module and is fully adjustable. In case of power outages the IncuKit™ DC can also be powered with a 12V battery (additional battery connectors required).

As always, all of our products are covered by our One-year Hassle-free Guarantee. Purchase today with no worries and experience the IncuKit™ DC for yourself.

How to determine the appropriate size container for the IncuKit DC:

There are several factors that determine how much power will be required to heat your container up to the appropriate temperature to hatch eggs.  The size of the container, how well it is insulated, the room temperature and how much the room temperature fluctuates will all have a significant impact.  The best way to determine if the IncuKit™ DC is the right size for your container is pretty simple.  Just put a 40 watt light bulb in your container (ensure it is thermally insulated since they get pretty hot!) and measure how warm your container gets.  If it easily gets to at least 100 degrees F, then the IncuKit™ DC should work.  It is the user’s responsibility to determine if this will generate enough heat for your container.

Best Value in Desktop Incubators
$49.99 + S&H, a free cooler from my local fish store, an old plexi picture frame, a few empty drinking water bottles and a few hours of planning and then a few minutes of tinkering later I have built the most impressive desktop incubator I have ever come across. Doing the math you basically spend about the same thing going the local hardware route but this, my friends is the Bugatti Veyron of incubator kits. I could not be more pleased with this product.

IncuKit DC with egg turner motor
By far the easiest, fastest way to get an incubator up and running at the correct temps. I was able to get the IncuKit DC installed and up to temp in about an hour. However, hooking the egg turner motor up was more of a problem. First off, the wires from the motor are way too short to reach up to the main controller. Secondly, the connection at the board is suppose to allow easy hook-up by pushing the wires in and they are suppose to hold the wire firmly. Unfortunately, they do not hold the wires well enough to make a solid connection. I ended up having to solder wires onto the board and then splice them to the wires from the motor. This could of easily been fixed by having longer wires from the motor and a connection that snaps onto the main board. Probably cost them an extra 80 cents, instead it cost me over 3 hours to get this hooked up.
My only other complaint is that there are no directions at all for making or possible applications for the egg turner. You're on you own for this.
Overall, it is a good unit - just not as user friendly as I expected.

Great in my off grid homestead
I purchased the incukit and built my incubator, So far i have hatched several batchs of chicks. We live off grid and homestead our land, it doesnt run down my battery bank being used 24/7 for 3 months on end. Very pleased with i and i am ordering another one for a second incubator to hatch even more. You can see it on on my blog Homesteading-Arizona

Stress relief at last
I bought 2 of these to replace the guts of my LG still air and Farm Innovators Pro 4200. They work very well although neither factory setting was accurate by the time it got to me. Adjusting was easy, installing was easy, the template is great if you need one. The installation instructions are not good and need pics, but really installation is pretty self explanatory if you are mechanically/spacially inclined at all. I do NOT recommend using one in a Farm Innovators model as they are too short to accommodate this device. With the turner in the fan is practically resting on the turner and you would not be able to put eggs in the center of the bator at all and I don't think it would work well anyway. I was able to use mine as a hatcher only - HOWEVER - make SURE you create a wire cage for the fan or your chicks WILL stick their head in the fan and get injured in a FI using an incukit. Thankfully I did not find that out the hard way. In an LG the spacing is perfect! I have my LG/Incukit on the kitchen Island next to my Hovabator Genesis 1588 and the two are running exactly the same. They are equally steady in temps. Great piece of equipment!!

seems to work so far
I had originally built my first incubator using the guts from an old hovabator, it did good, but the wafer needed replacing (I realized in the middle of a hatch (when I kept getting wild temp swings which hadn't happened before.) So I ordered this, built a new box, installed it, after about 16 hours it was rock solid according to my thermometer, so this morning I transferred the eggs over (since the other one had shot up between the last time it was checked (about 5Am ) and when i got back in from the chicken, ducks and dogs morning stuff (about 9:30AM) So I'm hoping for a good hatch (since these are a little bit on the expensive side of the eggs)
