A non proportional (on/off) thermostat turns the heater on at full power when the temperature drops below the set point, and shuts it off completely once the target temperature is reached. This simple, tried and true approach works very well in most incubator set ups, especially when the incubator is well insulated. It's a great choice for DIY incubators because it's easy to set up, easy to adjust, and reliably keeps temperatures in a safe range for hatching. A proportional thermostat, by comparison, constantly adjusts the power to the heater depending on how close it is to the target temperature. While that can reduce temperature swings slightly, the added complexity often isn't needed. Motor control:  This unit also features a built in motor control function, programmed to turn on for 13 seconds every 2 hours. This is ideal for automatic egg turning in many DIY incubator setups.
