How many birds will this brooder hold?
The GQF 0540 Battery Brooder has five individual brooder levels, so its total capacity will depend on the type of bird and how old they are.
For the complete 5-level brooder, the approximate capacities are:
- Up to 500 newly hatched poultry chicks — approximately 100 chicks per level through about 2 weeks of age
- Up to 500 quail — approximately 100 per level through about 4 weeks of age
- Up to 250 chukar or pheasants — approximately 50 per level through about 4 weeks of age
Please keep in mind that these capacities decrease as the birds grow and require more space. For example, chicken chicks that can initially be housed at approximately 100 per level will need to be divided into additional space as they get larger.
So, if you are starting with newly hatched chicks, the 0540 can accommodate approximately 500 birds total across all five levels, but it should not be considered a 500-bird grow-out capacity for older birds.
