Many people prefer to build their own incubators. This is a fun do-it-yourself project. We’ve found that the biggest difficulty people run into while developing their incubators is finding a reliable heat source and thermostat. We’ve solved this problem by creating the IncuKit™ series thermostat fan heaters. We have created the IncuKit™ MINI to turn any small container into an incubator. This provides the heat, air circulation, and thermostat control you need to accurately control the environment in your container for hatching eggs. The IncuKit™ MINI has a proportional thermostat, built-in 60-watt heater, and fan. The proportional thermostat controls the amount of power that is supplied to the heater instead of simply turning the heater off and on. This provides more accurate temperature control than a standard off/on thermostat. The thermostat also comes preset to 99.5 degrees F which can be easily adjusted if necessary. The digital display makes it easy to read the current temperature and to make changes. The IncuKit™ MINI operates on low 12 Volt DC power and includes an AC-to-DC converter that works with both 110/120v and 220/240v power input. In case of power outages, the IncuKit™ MINI can also be powered with a 12V battery (additional battery connectors required). NOTE: You can optionally purchase the car power adapter or battery clips so you can keep your incubator running while on the road! How to determine the appropriate size container for the IncuKit MINI: There are several factors that determine how much power will be required to heat your container up to the appropriate temperature to hatch eggs. The size of the container, how well it is insulated, the room temperature, and how much the room temperature fluctuates will all have a significant impact. The best way to determine if the IncuKit™ MINI is the right size for your container is pretty simple. Just put a 60-watt light bulb in your container (ensure it is thermally insulated since they get pretty hot!) and measure how warm your container gets. If it easily gets to at least 100 degrees F, then the IncuKit™ MINI should work. It is the user’s responsibility to determine if this product will generate enough heat for your container.    

This fan is made with durable ball bearings for long life. Mounting holes on each corner make mounting in your incubator very easy. Just wire into your incubator so the fan is always on to keep your cabinet incubator temperature uniform. The IncuKit XL ™ is an all-in-one kit designed to be the heart and brains of a homemade cabinet incubator. It allows you to convert a cabinet-sized enclosure into an incubator! To make your own incubator, you can use anything from an old refrigerator to a custom built cabinet! Simply choose your enclosure and install your IncuKit XL™ unit inside. Pretty cool? Well, actually it's pretty hot and it works very well. The IncuKit XL™ series has been redesigned to provide you with more options and versatility! First, select which style of thermostat is best for you: Basic Thermostat module: This is a standard on/off thermostat. This means that when the temperature hits a certain point, it turns the heater off and then back on full power once the temperature drops below a certain point. It will control the heater. This comes pre-set to 99.5 degrees F. Advanced Thermostat module: This is a proportional thermostat. As the temperature gets closer to the target temperature, it begins tapering off the power to the heater. This provides more precise control and provides lower temperature variation in the incubator. This unit also has a count-down hatch timer and provides the option to control an egg turner motor, if you choose to use one. This comes pre-set to 99.5 degrees F Second, select how many heater and fan modules your container will require: The number of heater and fan modules will be determined by the size of your container, how well it is insulated and the temperature outside the incubator. The IncuKit XL™ can be configured with one or two heater and fan modules, depending on these factors. Each heater and fan module will provide 125 watts of power. For medium size containers this may be all you need. For larger containers, you can add a second module to add an additional 125 watts of power. Do determine which option is best for you, a simple light bulb test will help. Get light bulbs that will generate enough heat to easily warm your incubator to at least 100 degrees F. See how many watts are required and that will help you know which option to select. The buyer is responsible for determining if this will generate enough heat for your enclosure. Caution: this is an AC powered device that you will be mounting in your incubator yourself. You must use a great deal of common sense when dealing with electrical devices. Electricity is wonderful but can be very dangerous. Use caution, common sense and if in doubt, ASK AN EXPERT!!! Did you know that at any given time, the temperature in your Hova-Bator still air incubator can vary by up to five degrees from top to bottom and from the center to the corners? This occurs primarily because heat rises. Unfortunately, this temperature variation can have a significant negative impact on your hatch rates. This problem can be significantly reduced by installing a circulated air fan kit into your incubator. This fan circulates the air, which helps keep your whole incubator the same temperature. This can have a positive impact on hatch results. The more consistent air temperature also ensures that your thermostat is cycling on and off at the appropriate times, not just when the air around the thermostat heats or cools. Putting a fan inside your incubator is a great way to increase hatch rates, but it is not just as simple as buying a PC fan or a cheap fan kit. There are a few things that you need to keep in mind: Too much air circulation is bad for eggs, as it will dry them out. Think about it this way: there isn’t a fan blowing on eggs in nature. The only reason that an incubator needs the fan is to keep the temperature more consistent (like in nature). Beware of cheap kits, which often use high-speed fans. Almost all fans on the market are designed for cooling things, so they are made to move as much air as possible. This is not what you want. If your fan is too powerful it can overheat your incubator. Fans generate heat, and alternate fans are known to cook eggs. The direction the air flows and the positioning of the fan inside your incubator is critical to maintaining a consistent temperature throughout the incubator.
