The Vrooder is a safer alternative to heat lamps. Its low-energy heating plate keeps chicks cozy without the risks of an exposed bulb. A built-in thermostat keeps the unit from overheating, and an insulation layer between the heater and the top surface means the top only gets slightly warm, so chicks can safely climb on it.
The clear, see-through design lets you easily monitor chick activity and comfort. The adjustable-height legs let you set the right amount of warmth as your birds grow. You can also hang the plate instead of using the legs, as long as it stays close enough for the chicks to feel the heat.
Ideal for raising baby chicks, ducklings, and other small poultry, the Vrooder encourages natural behavior by letting chicks gather under the plate, just like they would under a mother hen.

Can this hang from above or do you have to use the legs?
You can hang this from something, you'll just have to make sure that it is still close enough for the chicks to feel the heat from it. It does have adjustable heights, with the legs on.

What about chicks getting on top of it? Will it burn them?
No, it will not. There is an insulation layer between the heater and the top surface so that it just gets a little warm. Nowhere near hot enough to hurt baby chicks.

Can you control the temp?
There is a thermostat built into the unit which keeps it from overheating.

Kept my 12 chicks happy and warm! Worked great in my puppy playpen brooder setup.
This is so much better than the big red heat lamp I had been using. It was easy to put together, and was large enough for my 10 chicks. When they started roosting on top of it, I knew they didn't need it anymore! It's warm enough for them without being a heating hazard to the bedding. I am very pleased with this purchase!
The Vrooder is awesome for baby quail. We have 3 of these after the first one bought 2 more have used 2 of them a lot have the third as a spare but have not needed it yet. We also put one of these in an outdoor quail enclosure attached to the wall on an external thermostat to turn on when temp drops below -10F and worked great. Not listed use for this product but still it works!
