Description More Information FAQ Instructions

The GQF Universal Brooder Box 0534 is a thermostat-controlled brooder for day-old chicks, quail, ducklings and other small birds. It combines a built-in heater, an attraction light, and included feeders and waterers, so you can start a brood without sourcing extra parts.

Product Description

The 0534 has a durable plastic base with wire sides and an adjustable wire top. The built-in heating element is controlled by an adjustable electronic thermostat to keep the temperature steady and avoid cold spots. A clear front panel lets you check on the brood without disturbing it, and adjustable vents let you control airflow. The base wipes clean between broods.

Use it on its own or with a stacking system. It suits chicks, quail, pheasants, chukar, small ducklings and turkey poults in their first weeks.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Does this come with the upgraded electrical thermostat unit and panel or do you have to buy a separate upgrade. I know older units have a manual thermometer and heating system.

The 0534 is complete with the Electronic Thermostat and Heater included.

  • Does this brooder work for turkey poults? If so how many at 2 weeks and how many at 4 weeks?

This brooder would hold about 40 to 50 turkey poult through 2 weeks...after that they will be too big.

  • How many day old poultry can the brooder handle?

This box brooder is universal as each side panel comes with an adjustable gate to regulate openings for chick size. Approximate capacity to 4th week - 100 quail - 50 Chukar or Pheasants. Poultry Chick capacity - 100 chicks through 2 weeks.

A couple parts arrived damaged and the replaced

A couple parts arrived damaged and the replaced them with no charge. The brooder is amazing. I normally DIY things in glad I passed on this project. Well worth the money in the long run.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're happy we could get those replacement parts taken care of for you and even happier to hear how much you're enjoying your brooder! We absolutely loved the adorable video of your chicks enjoying their new home! 🐥❤️ Thank you for sharing it with us, and we wish you and your little flock all the best!

Worth it!

I have been raising meat chicks for 5 or 6 years now and could never "justify" spending the money on a brooder....All i can say is i wish i had got one sooner. Absolutely worth it.

Good so far

Bought this for quail chicks. I put this in my unheated garage. I bought a welding blanket from harbor freight to cover to help insulate.. has been working good and holds temp.

Great once we ironed out the hiccups

I really like these brooders! It took us a little while to get the kinks ironed out though. The first one we ordered had a defective heater that fluctuated a lot and then stopped working altogether, but GQF sent a new one out no questions asked when I contacted them. The second one got a little dented in the cover and litter tray during shipping, but not enough to impact functionality. A feed sack trimmed and cut open does work as a tray liner, but so far I found the easiest and most effective liner is a roll of 30" wide kraft paper that I ordered online -- I cut 38" lengths and those fit in the tray nicely (without sticking up and making it difficult to replace the tray the way a feed sack can). For the first three or four days, I put the food and water trays inside the brooder instead of hanging on the outside, so that they could understand where food and water was. That way, once I stepped up to hanging them on the outside, it was an easy transition (and they were big enough to not escape out the openings to the troughs).

I do think the manufacturer is too optimistic in their numbers of chicks that the brooder can accommodate (at least for meat birds). I have 48 heritage meat chicks (they get to be butcher weight in 12-14 weeks, so slower growing than a Cornish cross) in each brooder that are just turning 2 weeks old and it is pretty crowded-- I definitely could not have all of them in one brooder! However, I am overall very happy with this investment.

Top quality brooder

My GQF broader was purchased over 20 years ago and is still running well. The only parts replaced were blue bulbs and a wafer one time. It runs approximately four months per year keeping custom hatched chicks warm, up off the floor and provides three long attached troughs for food and water. This brooder was one of the best investments I made concerning poultry.
