Ease of Use
Since both incubators are the same thing from the same manufacturer down to the plain brown box they are packed in just with different branding it felt right to review them together. This should help clear up any confusion about why they look the same but have different names. These incubators are very simple to set up and use, I glossed over the instructions to understand the settings, their English is a little broken which made for an interesting read as usual with these Chinese made incubators. After assembling the egg tray to fit my chicken eggs I quickly realized that lining the lid mounted turner motor up with the tray in the base of the unit was somewhat of a pain. Changing the desired set temp is very straight forward but be ready to do some Celsius to Fahrenheit conversions if you live in the US, for me this was a small annoyance. Seeing into the incubator to monitor water levels or activity was made somewhat easy with the frosted plastic case, that is something I liked as it saves any unnecessary lid opening but it would be so much better if it was just clear.
To go into a little further detail on the design I have to say I was highly impressed overall with the only caveat being lining up the lid with the tray. The shell is a frosted plastic construction with a mesh ceiling to conceal the motor and electronics and a removeable mesh floor for the adjustable egg tray to move around on. The turning motor is lid mounted and the turner arm comes down into a slot on the egg tray. With eggs in the turner this seemed to become a challenge sometimes when I need to line them back up to close the incubator. The egg tray itself is compact and compatible with most egg sizes, adjustments can be easily made for larger or smaller eggs which is always a plus. Disassembly and clean up with this incubator was very quick and easy. The egg turning tray breaks down into small pieces and can be hand washed with the base and mesh floor easily while the lid can be wiped down with a damp cloth or sanitizing wipe.
Incubation Performance
I feel like the humidity in these incubators ran a little higher than I liked regardless of the adjustments I would make, it was not determinantal to the hatch but it did make me worry a bit until lockdown. As you can imagine lockdown humidity was easily reachable and held at appropriate levels throughout the hatching time. I was impressed at how close the temp readings were to my set temp, I assume this is due to the compact shape and rounded design. Something I love seeing in an incubator is a versatile egg turner, this egg turner will adjust to fit quail all the way to goose eggs, however capacity is compromised greatly with the larger eggs.
Hatching was very easy in these incubators, the eggs trays come right out, and the eggs sit nicely on the incubator’s mesh floor. As stated, since these incubators run a bit high on humidity reaching the ideal percentage for hatch was easy. The hatching floor is very open, and the chicks are free to move around as they hatch…however, the ceiling is low so standing all the way up and stretching would not be an option for most species.
Quality
These incubators are very nicely made with what seems to be decent components. The molded parts are clean with little to no plastic flashing left over like you see on cheap or worn out molds and the plastic is thick and feels like it should last for some time to come. The screen stayed bright with minimal flickering and the buttons felt very firm and made an audible click when pressed.
Summary
I was expecting the worst from these incubators, the shape was weird, the internal build was odd, and the product was from China which generally is not a good sign at all. After I had completed setup and let the incubator acclimate it was able to hold a steady set temp but the humidity was a bit higher than I liked. The turner worked well and the only major issue I had was lining the lid back up when I would have to open the incubator. The incubator hatched well and cleaned up easily. I would use this model in my own incubator lineup at home and would not hesitate to suggest it.
